KES Announcement....
Good Afternoon Parents, Students and Staff,
We have completed the three week mask mandate. Our number of quarantined students/staff has dropped below five (5) percent.
According to policy, masks are still strongly encouraged while indoors; however, masks are not required to be worn at KES at this time.
We will continue to monitor numbers daily and comply with guidelines in the ASD COVID-19 Mitigation Strategies policy. If you are not familiar with this policy, you may find it on the Alcorn School District Homepage.
https://www.alcornschools.org/page/covid-19-mitigation-strategies
Thank you so much for your compliance and understanding through these last few weeks.
Please remember, this message is only for Kossuth Elementary. Other schools will make decisions based on their numbers.
Thank you,
Charla Essary

KES Clarification...
I am sorry for any confusion with the last message. I did not intend for it to sound like Mrs. Dianne's was the only class coming back tomorrow. Due to some issues with our system, Mrs. Dianne could not send out a message to all of her students , so I wanted to make sure they did get word. I didn't have a list with me to name all of the others.
Thank you for your patience.
I can't wait to see all these kids (and teachers) back tomorrow!!

KES 4th Grade....
If your children were quarantined with the first fourth grade class (Phillips), they may come back to school tomorrow as long as:
1. They don't have symptoms
2. They have not tested positive for Covid since they were quarantined. If they have, they will need to quarantine for 10 days from the date of their tests.
We are so ready to have everyone back!
Thank you for your continued support through this.

KES Announcement:
Hi Parents and Students,
I know some of you have had trouble getting assignments throughout this quarantine. This is an unusual time. It has been inconsistent, because we have had many teachers and other staff members out sick. Many of the ones who are at school are having to teach another grade level. I apologize for any inconvenience this has been for you. Please know that we will help your child catch up if that is necessary. We will review and reteach any standards students need, The classes are mainly just reviewing end of year standards from last school year at this time.
If you would like to pickup packets, the office does have those available for each grade level. If you or someone in your household is positive for Covid, please don't come into the lobby. Call the office, and we will meet you outside.
Thank you for hanging in this with us! I know it is frustrating right now, but TOGETHER we will get through it and have a great year.
Please call if you have questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Charla Essary

KES IMPORTANT UPDATE
Due to the increased number of Covid cases in our school and the number of students having to be quarantined, a policy was approved by the school board tonight requiring masks to be wore by all staff and students at our elementary school for the next three weeks. Please understand we hate this as much as anyone, but the only way to not quarantine so many students is to wear masks for now. We will re-evaluate in three weeks. Please see the plan Mr. Quinn sent out a few minutes ago and feel free to call me tomorrow if you have questions.
This includes bus riders to and from school.
All bus riders must wear masks to and from school.
Thank You,
Charla Essary

KES - One more thing....
At this time, masks are not required to be worn at school. That being said, if your child is in close contact with someone who tests positive for Covid, he/she will have to quarantine for 10 days.
Again, it isn't required at this time, but I am encouraging staff and students to wear masks. There have been a lot of positive cases in our area. The masks keep your child from being quarantined MOST of the time, because they are not considered in close contact. This is the best chance to keep all of our kids in school.
Have a great evening!

KES Update:
Thank you all for a great first week! I know car riders wasn't perfect, but for those who haven't been her for the first day before, it used to take until 3:50 - 4:00 to get everyone loaded in the afternoons. It will get better and better. Please hang in there with us.
If you need to drop your children off before 7:25, they must be dropped off at the cafeteria. They cannot be dropped off at buildings. Early car riders may be dropped off at cafeteria at 7:15. We will not have people on duty to supervise students until these times.
Some things you can do to help:
In the mornings, have them on the left side of the car (for safety) with all of their things ready to unload. Adults, please do not get out of the car.
Pull all the way up to the duty person to load/unload. We are able to load twice as many kids this way.
In the afternoons:
Please do not arrive early. On the first day of school, everyone was loaded by 3:30, which means car riders took between 30 and 40 minutes. Some people waited in line two hours before car riders started. There isn't a need for this, and it is a HUGE safety issue with traffic on CR 604 and Highway 2. If you have special circumstances you need help with or just have concerns, as always, please feel free to call me. Thank you all for your support of KES.
Thank You,
Charla Essary
