We want to give a big Alcorn Central welcome to our new Keystone teacher and Head Boys Basketball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director Mr. Clark Whitten! It is a pleasure to have him aboard for this upcoming school year.
Coach Whitten is no new face to many Golden Bears. He is coming to us from Corinth High School where he was most recently the Head Girls Basketball coach. He is familiar with the legacy of the ACHS Boys Basketball program because he used to play against them. He is a graduate of Kossuth High School. He continued his studies at Blue Mountain College receiving his Bachelor of Physical Education and recently his Master of Educational Leadership from William Carey University.
Athletics and activity is a major part of Coach Whitten’s life. He is married to his wife Andrea and they have three sons who are involved in several sports and events. In addition to his involvement at school and with his kids, Whitten serves as youth pastor and music minister at his church, Unity Baptist Church, in Ramer, TN.
The family atmosphere and working under great leadership and with some good people is ultimately what brought him to Alcorn Central. With over a decade of experience teaching and coaching, Coach Whitten is prepared to make a difference in the lives of our students at ACHS. We asked him what his main goal was for his students. His reply encompasses exactly what all of us at Alcorn Central are all about - positive relationships. He said, “First and foremost I want them to know that they have value, they matter, and can be someone great despite their circumstances and situation. It does not define you, you do!”
When not at school, you can find Coach Whitten spending quality time with his family or enjoying some sporting events. You may also see him mowing grass and doing some landscaping work. He is just as excited to be joining us as we are about having him. “I am excited to get going. I am ready to see faces in the hallway, get in the classroom and then in the gym to get going with practice for the upcoming season.”
Please help us welcome Coach Clark Whitten to the Golden Bear Family!
