David Goforth and other county winners of DAR
Alcorn Central High School is proud to recognize David Goforth as this year’s DAR Good Citizen Award recipient! David was chosen by his peers for this award. He was recognized at an event with student from the other three schools in the county yesterday.

The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest, created in 1934, is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship.

This award recognizes and rewards high school seniors who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities.

David has been an exceptional leader and active participant in multiple extracurricular activities, including the Academic Team, Beta Club, and the Chess Club, which he co-founded alongside his teacher. As the Sentinel for the Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter, David has also represented Alcorn Central in various FFA competitions.

Academically, David has consistently excelled. He has been a part of the gifted program since middle school and has challenged himself by taking advanced English, math, and science courses. His dedication to education and growth sets a high standard for his peers.

Beyond academics, David is equally committed to serving his school and community. He has been a valuable member of the Summer Work Program at Alcorn Central and gained professional experience working at Hometown Pizza in Burnsville.

Looking ahead, David plans to pursue a degree in mathematics at Northeast Mississippi Community College, then transfer to Mississippi State University or the University of Mississippi. With his remarkable talents, work ethic, and leadership, there’s no doubt he will achieve great success in his future endeavors.

Congratulations, David! Your hard work and achievements inspire us all!
